Electron Microscopies

The electron microscopy technical platform possesses three TEM, a sample preparation room, one SEM and one EPMA.

Main technical features

  • a complete electronic tomography image acquisition system to acquire tomograms in TEM, EFTEM and STEM mode and rebuild them using DigitECT software from Digat and Gatan Digital Micrograph. We have a sample holder for tomography simple tilt cryo.
  • a waterproof cryo transfer case for the study of flammable or air sensitive materials in the microscope.
  • an electronic diffraction mapping (ACOM) system which allows the acquisition of crystal orientation maps and phases at scales down to nanometers.
  • an Erlangshen ES500 CCD camera on a JEOL 2000EX
  • a Gatan PIPS cooled ionic thinning device and a Solarus Gatan plasma cleaner.
  • an Olympus Erlangshen CCD camera on MET Akashi HR.

Sample preparation

Sample preparation systems:

  • Automatic and manual mechanical polishing systems.
  • Ionic thinning Gatan: Duo-Mill et PIPS.
  • Dimpler Gatan.
  • Electrolytical thinning of specimens for examination in a transmission electron microscope Struers Tenupol 3 and 5.
  • Leica Ultracut UCT Cryo UltraMicrotome .
  • Electro-Spark Erosion Machine
  • Low Speed Precision Saw Buehler Isomet
