ACCIR (accelerator coupled to infrared)

We have developed an experimental set-up coupling a 60 keV electron gun with an infrared (IR) spectrometer operating in the mid-IR region (800-4000 cm-1) and associated with the Rapid scan mode. Combining pulse electrons with Rapid scan analysis enables experiments with a time resolution of 80 ms (and above). Therefore, this new platform can give directly insights into reaction mechanisms induced by accelerated electrons.

Main technical features

Irradiation by accelerated electrons on thin films having a thickness of a few micrometers. Detection in the mid infrared spectral range between 800 and 4000 cm-1. Possibility of experiments in the Rapid scan mode with a minimum temporal resolution of 80 ms.
