Device for parahydrogen production

This home-built device allows fast production of high quantities of dihydrogen gas enriched at 50% in the parahydrogen isomer. The gas, stored in a glass reservoir at room temperature, is maintained in the enriched state for at least several hours. It is therefore transportable and usable in various places remote from the production area.

Reversible or non-reversible addition of para-hydrogen on small molecular probes leads to a NMR sensitivity gain of three orders of magnitude.

Main technical features

Production of parahydrogen by immersion, in a liquid nitrogen bath, of a reservoir containing the dihydrogen and an appropriate catalyst.
