Physicist, I work mainly on hydrodynamic and mechanical instabilities induced by drying complex fluids (polymers, colloids). My work concerns in particular the morphologies of cracks formed in thin layers. One application that guides us is the study of art paintings whose cracks provide information on the methods and materials used by artists as well as conservation methods. Mechanical instabilities induced by drying are also applied to the study of the permeability of structures formed by certain milk proteins.
